Launch of $1.2B coalition to expand HIV services for men

AMSTERDAM — A group of major HIV/AIDS donors, NGOs, and pharmaceutical companies have joined forces to launch a $1.2 billion coalition to expand the diagnosis and treatment of HIV infections among men, who are currently less likely to be accessing these services.

The MenStar coalition brings together the Elton John AIDS Foundation; the United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS ReliefUnitaid; the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria; the Children’s Investment Fund FoundationJohnson & Johnson; and Gilead Sciences around the issue of how to get more men, especially those aged between 24-35, accessing HIV testing and treatment.
